A Katana from the Nambokucho period with a wonderful O-Kissaki of course made by one of many outstanding smiths. 2nd an Yoshioka Ichimonji. Either one in Juyo.

a kazaritachi owned by ashikaga takauji. 

a pristine chokuto.

my wak before it got shortened.

 

a nodachi with a blade over 200cm.
 

and for the most realistic one, a certain katana I saw in utrecht mounted in a kenukigata style koshirae (If someone knows what I am talking about, I was not able to find it listed online)

Since there is some activity here I will throw in my piece

 

for the realistic: I just love Tanba no kami Yoshimichi blades (very early edo period) up to like 5th/6th generation i believe they belonged to Mishina school, some to Osaka school and some belonged to Kyoto school of the same name.

I dont know how to describe the hammon and jigane. I find this type very attractive and unique. 

 

A bit of an answer in between those two answers: A nagamaki or naginata with the signature Yoshimichi hamon

 

As for the dream piece, a one of a kind sword we have at our museum, I have provided a link to some pictures and some info in this post I made when I joined this forum.

I love everything from the horimono to the hamon and jigane, but this is something i will only be able to take care of for the rest of my life but not own it. 

EDIT: the name of the blade pattern is called "sudareba" at least from what I read.

Still, nice one so I will add my 2 cents. 

 

Realistic (probably, I hope that is ...): Mutsu Tadayoshi (3rd gen. Hizen Tadayoshi) papered Ubu Katana. 

Not-realistic: Hatori Hanzo Katana from Kill Bill movie ... just joking  

I guess it would probably be Honjo Masamune.

11 years later and my realistic dream is still the same it was then.  Hopefully I am not 10+ years off from it anymore but closer to it. Will have to see how life goes.

 

I think fun question for those who were answering in late 2013 (and if they are still here) would be if someone achieved their realistic goal?

I would think it was the National treasure ōdachi by Tomomitsu. After seeing it several times in the museum it is probably my favorite sword as it is just amazing item. However there are other incredible ōdachi that I have seen and picking favorites is bit difficult.

I'm a hopeless romantic, so my dream swords are personal picks. Both projects are in the works! But won't be done for several years...

One, being my inherited early shinto kanemoto school katana - in full polish. 
Two, being the o-suriage late Kamikura Tegai I found in the wild - in full polish. 

Aside from those personal blades. A dream would be to own a Koto ubu Awataguchi or Rai Tachi.

Certainly, only in my dreams

Odachi fan? And here comes me whining about studying Katana being more difficult then looking at the Wakizashi. Due to the length
