tokashikibob Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 I guess I should be picking up some of these instead of taking a pass when I see them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ORIGINAL-WW2-Japanese-COPPER-HANDLE-NCO-SWORD-matching-numbers-all-original-/291011642067 Quote
tokashikibob Posted November 15, 2013 Author Report Posted November 15, 2013 how many have you seen Is it a rare variant because of a copper handle? I've passed on 3 NCO's this year in trades or live auction. Best Regards, Bob http://www.okinawarelics.com Quote
kusunokimasahige Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Apparently it is ; http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 1&t=187824 But I am baffled that a machine made NCO blade fetches this price. No matter how rare it is. KM Quote
Grey Doffin Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Last year on ebay a couple copper handled NCOs fetched between $5K and $6K. The price has come down since. Grey Quote
christianmalterre Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 you can regularely see them here on fairs... and i do equally know of least 2 actually offered by an friend... none of them is higher than 400.-Euro asking price!(and that´s already much to much!) what shall then be that special with purely machine made things here? I really do not see... Christian Quote
Sporkkaji Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 This is only the second copper handle I've seen on Ebay in the last four years or so. Machine made or not, it's a difficult spot to fill in a collection. Quote

Stephen Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 My guess the many seen was repros, Yes copper (first NCO) are very rare and collectors do pay top money, 3K has been the norm. Quote
reeder Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 I've seen this seller sell a few copper handled NCOs. Recently he's posted a rocking star type 30 bayonet and let it go at auction with no reserve, it is now reposted for the 3rd time. I wonder if this NCO is the same one I saw him sell last year? Would be something to have owned 3 or 4, let alone a single one. A few months ago I was seeing the regular NCOs both iron and brass guard fetching as much as $1200-$1500. Whether or not they were true auctions or shilled in attempt to inflate the market I do not know. Anyways, yes, these copper handled NCOs fetch a premium. Thanks, Brandon Quote
