I would be very appreciative if one of the members would be so kind as to translate this hakogaki for me. I have a bit of trouble with the written texts. Thank you kindly in advance!

Probably too hard for the likes of me, I know the start will describe the technique, I can see Ji. The rest has me stumped up to Ezo.

?? ?? ji,

????????????????????

EZO 蝦夷

Jidai Muromachi 時代 室町

Showa (I think) Go Ju Roku nen Gatsu Hi 昭和五十六年月日

Signature ?

This is probably over to Koichi :-).

Nice menuki by the way, I saw these a couple of months back.

Cheers

These are the hakogaki on the 2nd photo. Actually, most words are already familiar to you.

朧銀地 – oborogin ji – (literally) hazy silver ground (= Shibuichi-ji)

容彫 – katachi-bori - carved with the motif in full

色繪 - iroe

無銘 - mumei

蝦夷 -Ezo

時代室町 – jidai: Muromachi

昭和三十六年春 – Showa san-ju-roku nen haru – spring in 1961

公 x – Ko+something :?: (appraiser's name)

(花押: kao)

*The date looks Showa 36th year to me. But it could be 56th as Rich said.

there always easier in hind site LOL, thanks Koichi. As we get through these readings, I am slowly adding the terms to my kanji pages.

Keep up the good work mate.
