Gakusee Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 This wisteria sukashi tsuba came as part of a relatively modest, true samurai style koshirae/tosugu set for a sword I bought. I am not sure about the period (Edo?). school, value. Any insights will be appreciated. Many thanks, Michael Quote
Gunome Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Hello, It looks like a Kyo Sukashi, I would said early EDO for the period. Quote
raven2 Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 I would agree with kyo-sukashi and early edo. I also, like it quite a bit. Quote
Pete Klein Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 When possible please post some pics of the koshirae. Quote
hxv Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 This tsuba probably would be a fair value at $300-$400. Please forgive me for saying so, but in my opinion, it seems to lack ...finesse typically seen on Kyo Sukashi tsuba. Probably is a mid to low end Kyo Sukashi tsuba. Please take it with a grain of salt. It's my newbie's personal opinion. Hoanh Quote
Alan Morton Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 Hello Michael, its a nice Kyo Sukashi tsuba in good nick You might get lucky and find one on ebay for $400 but you would have to give a lot more if you found one in the hands of dealer and certainly more in Japan. regards Alan. Gakusee Posted October 21, 2013 Author Report Posted October 21, 2013 Dear all Thank you very much for all the responses - kindly appreciate the feedback. I shall try to take some decent pics of the koshirae and post them here. I shall also do some reading on Kyo Sukashi tsuba. Best, Michael Quote
Gunome Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 If you look at the hitsu ana, they were first adjusted in shakudo and then closed in shakudo. Quote
