svarsh Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 Two tsubas are listed by two different ebay dealers - hitendo and daimyou54eb. They are of different shape but the design is very similar. I wonder if it is just a coincidence, or it's two fakes made at the same shop? Quote
kusunokimasahige Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 I see two different tsuba. KM Quote
sanjuro Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 So do I. Possibly taken from the same design book of the Edo period but different enough not to be copies or fakes. If the possibility of them being less than genuine concerns you, then dont buy them. Quote
Soshin Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 Hi I was agree with KM two different tsuba with the same design only. The first one is in much better condisition then the second tsuba which has major damage to the inlays. Quote
Grey Doffin Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 Not only condition; the 1st tsuba is head and shoulders better quality than the 2nd. On the 2nd, notice how clumsy the tree trunk is rendered where it enters and exits the seppa-dai, and the carving overall is stiff and uninteresting. The 1st tsuba isn't a masterpiece but it is a real tsuba made by a real artist; not so sure this is the case with the 2nd. Grey Quote
svarsh Posted October 20, 2013 Author Report Posted October 20, 2013 Thanks Grey and All, As always, your input is invaluable and educational. Sergei Quote
Soshin Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 Hi Sergei, Both tsuba are not what I would collect but that is only my taste. If you can get the first one at a good price I would if you find the design attractive. Quote
