Satsuma rebellion fuchi

Hi,

 

Anyone have any idea what this symbol means on my fuchi? The blade is mounted in typical Satsuma rebellion mounts. I wondered if the symbol had anything to do with the Satsuma clan?

Hi Peter,

 

I have seen similar marks on the bottom of satsuma porcelain.

 

The top circle with the cross represents the mon of the powerful Shimazu clan from Satsuma, however I'm not sure about the bottom part - perhaps this is the mark of the maker.

Thanks Justin that makes sense. Perhaps the bottom mon could be the mon of the samurai that owned the sword?
