Hollywood Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Good evening fellow collectors its been awhile since I last posted. I am in need of some expertise on the design pattern, period of manufacture, and possible school attribution. I recently picked this piece up, and truth be told I don't know too much about it. I am guessing mid to late Edo. Dimensions: 7.5cm-7.2cm-6mm Thanks for time and input. Daniel Quote
Marius Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Daniel, from what I can see in the pictures this is a cast tsuba. Look at those many holes in the seppa-dai - these are due to trapped air bubbles. In one word - a 20th c. fake Quote
Ford Hallam Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Hi Daniel I'm afraid I have to agree with Mariusz. This is modern cast steel copy of an original. Sorry, Ford Quote
Hollywood Posted August 18, 2013 Author Report Posted August 18, 2013 Thanks guys! Something didn't look right to me which is why I made sure it wasn't shipped out yet. Order cancelled! Daniel Quote
