shonkz Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 Hi, I have been a lurker for a while and I wanted to inquire about this particular sig. It's a wakizashi in a WW2 fitting. Thanks for your help. Quote
shonkz Posted August 16, 2013 Author Report Posted August 16, 2013 Here is one feedback I received with partial translation. I think the last two kanji are "shiro kuni" -- the one above that is unclear, and the two preceding it might be "kore saku" ("made this"). So the first four kanji are the maker's name/school maybe, kore saku, then the place. This is kind of an odd order for the signature, but it doesn't look like a gimei (fake name). Quote

shonkz Posted August 16, 2013 Author Report Posted August 16, 2013 Thanks John. Just out of curiosity, is it possible be able to indicate the era to the style of the signature? Quote
Nobody Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 I think that the mei reads Kawachi Daijo Fujiwara Yoshitane - 河内大掾藤原義植. However; the mei especially the style of 義 looks very strange. Quote
shonkz Posted August 16, 2013 Author Report Posted August 16, 2013 So, Fujiwara...found this when googled. Quote
shonkz Posted August 16, 2013 Author Report Posted August 16, 2013 Thank you Koichi. Will google again for more information. Quote

shonkz Posted August 16, 2013 Author Report Posted August 16, 2013 Thanks Chris. I feel really good right now. I guess I just need to find the proper fitting for the sword. Thanks everyone. Nobody Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 As my 2 cents worth; It would be better not to expect the mei genuine. Quote
shonkz Posted August 16, 2013 Author Report Posted August 16, 2013 Koichi, I know what you mean. I am just glad to know what the sig says at the moment. Pete Quote
