Brian Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 Stole these pics from WA forum. I thought it interesting, because although we see lots of Namban tsuba, we don't seem to see many Namban fuchi and kashira. And unless I am mistaken, these do appear to be Namban fittings...or maybe just in the style of? Brian Quote
Pete Klein Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 I can't remember seeing any attribution to Namban for fittings other than tsuba. Quote
docliss Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 Personally, I would label these fittings as ‘demonstrating a namban influence’, but am sure that they would be papered as ‘Namban’. Occassionally one sees true Namban fuchi-gashira, demonstrating openwork and undercutting, and sometimes with a gilt lining to emphasise the openwork, but these are indeed very rare. John L. Quote
John A Stuart Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 If you search within the Tosougu section you will find a nice set that was posted a year or two ago. They were open-work and indeed quite rare and desirable if ones penchant was this kind of work. John Quote
