Hi Brian,

You are welcome to have the paper sample/s sent to me and I will report what I can. I'm not an authority on paper, though, just a book seller. If someone else is better suited to the job by all means choose him.

Grey Doffin, Box 114, Duluth, MN 55801

I would go to Grey for anything, but I think his post is an honest appraisal of his authority on paper. its with that in mind I suggested a printing family, who would know paper quality by its feel in the dark.

TBH I think we should send some samples to Grey (who is well known by a lot of people on this board and also has experience with how books resist in time) and to Markus who is the author.

Nothing against Alex if the printer is willing to ship 3 sample sets, but my feeling is that 1 sample set shipped domestic and 1 sample set shipped international is what we can ask from him without pushing it.

Not discounting Markus to whom we all  but I don't think he has recommended any favour for a paper choice, so he was not in my thoughts.

Your "feeling" about a printer you don't know, and what they will do as to sample postings, is guessing! If the suggestion is to have legs so be it. Please note I didnt accuse you of negativism.

Wow...like a committee making a decision. Sheesh.

It's not such a big deal. It's paper. You pick up the sheet, look at it. Decide if it looks decent, and maybe compare it with one or 2 books on your shelf. If it looks decent, it is. This is not some unknown paper manufacturer.

The idea is just to confirm what is pretty much known..that the paper doesn't look cheap. Grey can easily do that.

I chose him because the printer won't have any problem sending samples within USA. But sending them internationally just takes a lot of time for no real return.

Let's await a sample to get to Grey, and take it from there.

I find that in 24 years of being in the trade repeatedly stating the obvious is what makes for an hassle free life :D. If anyone as any questions or as anything in mind regarding this project, its good to mention it. As small as it may be, it could help to prevent a mini catastrophe.

To keep this thread on track, i will refrain from replying to any shall we say, unnecessary wording...
