Lindus Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 Just had a call from an old friend,he had been to an arms fair where he was offered an itomaki tachi, the blade is Hira zukuri. Have only seen one in 40 odd years of collecting so these must be pretty rare, thoughts please as it is priced at 4k. Quote
Brian Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Mine is signed Muramasa, but it is likely a Shinshinto. I think all your replies are going to revolve around "buy the work, not the style" It's a gamble. I wouldn't pay that much without a good signature or very good mounts. Lots of later tourist pieces done up in fancy styles. Brian Quote
Ed Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Hard to comment with no photos to judge condition, etc., etc. It is rare to come across one, much like finding naginata naoshi in katana length. I had one of each and sold them, much to my regret !! http://yakiba.com/Kat_Akihiro.htm http://yakiba.com/kat_konami.htm Quote
rkg Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Here's a shobu zukuri one that's being used as a metal tsunagi - when viewed in-hand, the ji-nie are amazing... http://www.rkgphotos.com/recent_stuff/t ... 2_half.jpg Best, rkg (Richard George) Quote
