Hi,

could you please give me a picture of the hook used to hang a kakejiku in a traditional tokonoma?

I don't have an alcove, but I don't simply want to drive screw into the wall to hang my scroll. Perhaps your picture can give me some inspiration.

:thanks:

Thanks Chris, I was just going to mention that too. The adjustable spanner, avoids putting groupings of holes into the wall when you change scrolls depending on season or occasion.

Wow , interesting! Never saw one like that before (jizai). Probably nice for a tea house....

Most I have seen are simple hooks.

The weights, by the way, are called fuchin.

You will also need a yahazu, which is a stick with a fork-like piece on the end to hang the kakejiku...EDIT: as shown in the above post....

I will be completing the tokonoma in my home in a few weeks (have to plaster and put in some trim) and have been thinking of what type of jizai I want to use so this topic is also very useful for me....post-1462-14196870887573_thumb.jpg

Thanks.

I know I still need fuchin, just haven't found "my pair of balls" yet.

These sliding hooks are called "jizai" (Kanji?)? Is that right? Guess I'll start looking for one - best solution I think. jizai didn't lead to any results on eBay, any int'l sources?

I won't need that stick, might as well use a stool.

ONE more question: The haning string usually has this additional string on it to tie the scroll together when rolled up. What do you do with it when you hang the scroll? Slide it to the side, leave it hanging in the center?

Thanks for all the answers. I'll probably buy one of those slider hangers once I figured out what length I need.

Oh, and I finally found (and bought) a set of Fuchin that I liked. :D

Dear All,

I would love to get one of those Japanese "sliding hooks" for scrolls made from bamboo as shown on the Rakuten site. Can somebody with direct access with Japan can buy me one ? Of course, all the expenses will be on me.

PS : I don't even consider of making one by myself as I am not gifted for such manual work. :glee:
