Hi Fred,

No, not a prototype, just late war variation of Type 3 gunto mounts. (see pic).

I notice you don't show the mei, but since there seems to be a tiny "W" stamp above the date, I assume this will be signed by

Takehisa or one of the other 1 or 2 names known to have used the "W" stamp.

Blade is showato.

The meaning of w-stamp, who is Tekehisa,a relation with Mantetsu sword,--

those are not known yet.(Since there are no history data) :(
