SwordGuyJoe Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 Can someone help me out here? Fuchi signed (I believe) "Sashu ju Toshisada(?)" Tsuba signed "Bushu ju ? ? Toshisuke" Quote
docliss Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 Dear Joe The fuchi is definitely SASHU (NO)JU TOSHISADA, and this is probably by one of the two Nakahara artists of this name, (H 10549.0 or H 10550.0), both working in Aikawa on the island of Sado circa 1700 and 1750 respectively. The tsuba is BUSHU (NO)JU and TOSHI, but I am unsure of the final kanji on this. Sorry …. Perhaps another member can help? John L. Quote
John A Stuart Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 Yes, the tsuba is Bushu no Ju Nara Toshiharu 武州住奈良利治 John Quote
John A Stuart Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 Joe, that tsuba is possibly by a fairly good artist. Can we see a pic of it? John Quote
John A Stuart Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 Thank you. Too bad it has been damaged. Shows a Nara influence, does it not? John Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted May 3, 2013 Author Report Posted May 3, 2013 My nephew never called me TsubaGuyJoe for a reason. I know just shy of nothing. Quote
Jean Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 I know just shy of nothing. Even not forgetting the translation section? :D Quote
