zatoichi Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 Hello , This tag is on a sword for sale on line. I wanted to know its purpose, and who issued it. Thank you. Justin Quote
Nobody Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 Name (Family name) - 渡邊 (Watanabe/Watabe) and Address - 大西町 紺原X (Ohnishi-cho Konbara+something) - a town in Ehime prefecture I guess that the tag belonged to one of previous owners. Quote
george trotter Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 Written in ink behind the plate is what might be "Nao ..?.. Saku" What is the name on the sword? Regards, Quote
micha Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 hi, It's an o-suriage katana attributed to Muramasa with Tokubetsu kicho papers. http://www.aoijapan.com/katana-mumei-mu ... king-shape Quote
george trotter Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Oh, now I see. The "tag" is a metal plate screwed to the top or bottom of the shirasaya containing the Muramasa sword. The ink mei is "Nao ..?.. Saku" is probably the name of the sayashi and the metal tag is probably the name of the collector/museum/inventory the sword previously belonged to. Regards, Quote
kunitaro Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Patina of Nakago looks bad. Kanzan Sayagaki is not original. Only Tokubetsu kicho paper ??? Quote
Jim P Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Hi Kunitaro-san. I also spent 2h looking at Kanzan Sayagaki and it did not look right, and had the same thoughts. If it had new papers it would sell for a bit more than the asking price :D Quote
Jean Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Easy, just ask Tsuruta san if he guarantees Hozon :D Quote
kunitaro Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 Yes, Jean san is right. purchasing the sword with old papers (Kicho,Tokubetsukicho, Koshu-TK etc), especially through internet. we can always confirm or ask seller to guarantee of issuing new Hozon paper. for Mumei blade, the attribution could be change, or some are possible failure of issuing new Hozon.
