No mei / nakago pics yet...but this looks like it could be a very nice blade, no?

I have one that belonged to my great grandfather. He retired from the Navy after WW2 a rear admiral. Some pictures....unfortunately I don't have a pic of the entire blade. I didn't take the handle off, I couldn't figure out how!

Dave,

 

The Kai Gunto fittings may be great and the blade may be in great condition, but from what I see of the boshi I expect this to be an oil-tempered Showato.
