Jiro49 Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 This deserves the spotlight for a minute. Anyone have 19k they can loan me? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Japanes ... 1064861770 I hope you were as entertained as I was! Gomen,
Nickupero Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Not sure if I want to laugh or cry, especially since he's a Canadian seller. It appears he's also a polisher.... now I know where to go when I want some local polishing done!
Kai-Gunto Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 And He polished the nakago too The price is
kusunokimasahige Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 I can buy a museum for that money KM
Andi B. Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 "One appraiser said it was priceless..." - that's completely true...now! Unbelievable! He knows the terms "Tanto", "Kogatana" and "Saya" and talks about his collection of "Katana and Wakizashi" and still doesn't now, that polishing in this way means destroying the blade...
Pete Klein Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 He should change his seller's name to 'artlover666'...
Brian Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 I just want to know what happens if he ever removes the kogatana a second time. Does it release a demon or something? Removing a kozuka/kogatana isn't rocket science The tanto is signed twice, the kogatana signed 4 times? Does each kanji consitute a separate signature? Brian
sanjuro Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Man its been awhile since I saw a blade in such lousy condition after its been polished. Delamination, Kizu. This piece of junk has it all. It looks as if the hamon (or rather where the hamon should be) is about to part company with the rest of the blade. So much for amatuer polishing. .
takakage Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Hi, Hope he will relist this blade with a "buy it now" for 19 $
sanjuro Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Patrick. Would you buy something that looks suspiciously like someones polishing project gone horribly wrong. even for $19?????
takakage Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Ok, it was a joke, 19 $ is too expensive ..............19 cents no more
Jiro49 Posted February 3, 2013 Author Report Posted February 3, 2013 I love the part where he states that this blade is worth more than his entire collection
Kai-Gunto Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 I asked the seller some questions and the answer was xxxx off troll
runagmc Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 I might buy it for $19... the steel would probably be worth that. At this point I'm afraid recycling is all it's good for.
Jiro49 Posted February 3, 2013 Author Report Posted February 3, 2013 Sounds like a very pleasant person Just goes to show he knows how full of shi& he is....
cfm15 Posted February 4, 2013 Report Posted February 4, 2013 i would pay $19 for the steel also,I would fold it a few times and forge a smaller blade .I always wanted to try some tamahagane. Chris
