Hi Alex,

The NTHK shinsa's in the UK were carried out by the NTHK. There are no events planned in the near future. I dont know if the NTHK NPO have any plans to come to the UK or other European destination, perhaps Chris Bowen could confirm.

Sorry, seemed an appropriate time for a plug. Just a reminder that if anyone wants to submit blades or fittings/koshirae for shinsa, I am offering those services in Japan to any shinsa of your choice. I also have access to every kind of craftsman you may need for any blade of koshirae restoration. I oversee all aspects personally, offer advice and keep the customers reliably informed.

Paul are you aware that Royal Mail / Parcelforce are now refusing to ship swords internationally? It could make shipping swords to Japan from the UK quite difficult, do you know anything about this?

Hi Peter,

I am in Japan and have not heard about this. However, a quick search on the internet reveals nothing. It would be very strange if this was the case to arbitrarily refuse to ship swords (particularly antique/art objects) when there is no law against it.

If you have any links or primary sources, I would like to read them.

Thanks

Hello all

I have asked the question of shinsa on a few occasions of the boys in the Northern To-ken society and it seems the cost to bring a team over again far out weights the interest and amount of blades, fittings etc that where registered to be presented to the team.

So would it be a fair suggestion to involve someone like Mr Martin as he has suggested, or someone else who has similar connections and airmiles to Japan take multiple items from collectors in the UK to have them papered, maybe a combined multiple pieces may bring the price down a little rather than sending a single item?

Hi Peter,

I could not see any references to swords anywhere there. I don't think that there is a problem. I just received two swords from the UK earlier this week, so no immediate panic I think.
