Jiro49 Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 Just curious if anyone can tell me who issued the origami on this sword? It doesn't look like the nthk, a smaller group? Btw, I have no intention of bidding on this. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.vi ... 0971794695 Regards, Quote
cabowen Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 Kajihara san's papers. He was a polisher in Kyushu. Quote
Marius Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 I wonder if that is still a Kajihara polish. The seller is known for polishing swords himself (search this forum for Eric Roush) Quote

Sam Elliott Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 Hi All - quick question, and I apologize in advance if I am taking this off topic. Granted, I am still in the infantile stages of my Nihonto study, however the polish on the blade looks, well.....odd. It reminds me of the acid enhanced blades I often see on mass produced blades. Thoughts or comments? Thanks, Sam Quote
Grey Doffin Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 Hi Sam, Hard to tell for sure just from a few pictures but the treatment does come off as being a bit harsh (to put it kindly). The seller thinks he knows how to polish Nihonto and this could be some of his work. Grey Quote

What reminds you of acid? The name of the seller? :D Seriously, I don't think this is an acid polish, neither seems it "harsh". Kesh is always flashy, which with some type of hamon looks bad. This is not to say the sword does not have proper polish, it is just that we see photos only and no impact on niku and shape. Surface looks good. Loose grain/kitae ware are not synonymous with "harsh polish"... Quote
Jacques Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 Hi, This one could be candidate for juyo http://www.sanmei.com/Pictures/Sword/T6 ... 0_PUP1.jpg Quote
