cabowen Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 I downloaded Markus Sesko's recent work, "E-Index of Japanese Swordsmiths" thinking that it would be nice to have a computerized meikan that I could rapidly search, etc. After some computer manipulation, it is now a nice searchable database. Very nice job and light years ahead of anything else in English. As with any work of this size and scope, errors are bound to creep in. I have noticed a few and am wondering if there might be any interest in a group generated errata? Perhaps it could become a sticky that it added to as people find things. If enough things accumulate, perhaps Mr. Sesko would consider updating his publication??? Comments? Quote
hxv Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 Chris, I purchased this ebook, but am having trouble downloading it. I must be doing something wrong. Every time I attempt to download the file from my lulu download page, I receive a file named "e_index_of_japanese_swordsmiths.acsm" that is only 1 kB long. What am I doing wrong? Please help! cabowen Posted December 27, 2012 Author Report Posted December 27, 2012 That file is not the book, but a "ticket" that lets you download the book. You need adobe digital reader software to open and read the book. Download that first, then try again.... Quote
hxv Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 Chris, I opened that file with Adobe Digital Edition. It then tries to download the book and gives me an error. I sent lulu support an email and am waiting to hear back. It's probably something in my AntiVirus setting. Hoanh Quote

I already did a German errata but didn´t have the time so far to check the English volumes. It would be of great help if readers point errors out in a sticky thread! Also an option would be to add certain smiths which didn´t make it into my books. @Hoanh: I hope the Lulu support is now back at their desks after the holidays. It also took them a couple of days to answer questions of mine. PS: I attach the German errata via this reply. Korrekturen.pdf Quote
cabowen Posted December 27, 2012 Author Report Posted December 27, 2012 I will post the first thing I caught later today when I have more time.... Quote

They both give the ability to push out updates/corrections so no need for an errata. Quote
Markus Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 Is there no possibility of you adding your books to the Kindle or Apple book store? They both give the ability to push out updates/corrections so no need for an errata. The "problem" is, I have to reformat all the files into the epub format for this. I don´t want to sound lazy but I didn´t have the time to do that and the PDF to be sold at the Lulu marketplace where I can just adapt 1:1 the print file seems to be the most convenient solution at the moment. My question is, if you have bought a Kindle or Apple ebook, do you get an updated version of the publication for free? Or this a kind of service for the fraction of the asked price? Because I guess no one is willing to spend the same amount for an updated ebook. Quote

Next time the user opens the book on his kindle/ipad etc. the book automatically updates to the latest version. Converting PDF's to epub is quite easy, you can use the open source program Calibre and it does everything for you automatically. http://calibre-ebook.com Quote
