gun addict Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 I am looking at a Katana with this maker and it wears a set of all matching koshiare that's also signed, any assitance would be helpful, thank you! http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa4 ... mei001.jpg http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa4 ... 1353983147 http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa4 ... mei001.jpg Quote
Nobody Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 Sorry, but it seems to be a so called Chinese fake. Quote
gun addict Posted November 27, 2012 Author Report Posted November 27, 2012 I dont mean to doubt you but i highly, highly doubt that the sword in question is a fake, not that im a very experienced collector but i can tell fake from real Quote
kusunokimasahige Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 Then let me show you the difference : These are real Mei (signatures). The Mei on your sword was clearly carved by a drunk baboon who did not have a clue what he was doing. I am very sorry, but that Mei is so obviously wrong I just cant take it serious. I do not doubt that you feel you can distinguish fake from real, but I would advise you to check these pages out : http://www.jssus.org/nkp/fake_japanese_swords.html http://www.ksky.ne.jp/~sumie99/information.html Please post photos of the blade as well as the koshirae, so we can see more, though I doubt you will get a different verdict. Jean Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 Quote I dont mean to doubt you but i highly, highly doubt that the sword in question is a fake Tim, To avoid any problem, taking into account this experience, if you ever want to buy a sword, I suggest you ask the Forum the basic question: genuine or fake before making any move Quote
