I am new at this site and have a lot to learn.... I was interested in discussing an old Japanese matchlock that I inherited from my father it has been in the family for over 60 years and the story has it that it was taken from a museum in Japan by an american soldier just after the US bombed them. it is in great condition and has silver and gold inlay's??? anyone know about matchlocks that may have been important enough to come from a Museum??

Dear Rick,

Welcome to the NMB, ... you might want to post a few pictures of your Tanegashima ( matchlock ), ... There are a few of us who have a serious interest.

Welcome Rick.

As Ron says, there are several people who are interested in matchlocks so some pictures would get the conversation started. Looking forward to them.

Cheers
