Hi gents, :)

Anybody knows where this can be found? I mean a good quality one and not a standard swords stand, but something with katana kake style.

Thanks

Why not make one on Your own ?

Hi Thomas,

For the same reasons I would not make a wooden one either, it will be amateur work thus not nice to look at.

Hello:

I have three plexiglass stands. One I got a long time ago from a museum. The other two I designed and then took to a plastics vendor who made them for me. The two I made are ones that come apart as I have used both at different times at shows. They are both dissambled. I will look for photos and add them to the post. Make a sketch and then take it to a plastics fabricator. They generally do a fine job.

Here is the stand from the Museum:post-46-14196847919963_thumb.jpg

Here is the style where I had rotating discs made that allowed for each blade to be adjusted to catch the light best.

Hello Barry,

That is a pretty good idea. I too saw them in museums and they looked nice.

Thanks for the photo, nice design.

Thanks Eric for the link, I saw it and the photos are nice too but always distrust a bit when it comes to chinese seller.

Hi Bruno,

Not sure what you mean by this. Brian is based in Massachusettes, USA with a degree from MIT, one of the most prestigious schools in the USA. He is not a Chinese sword junk seller like we see on EBay.

If you view his page, you will see many other lovely items he has created over the years. He is especially skilled in origami.

Hi

I've sent two emails to Mr Chan but doesn't get a reply. Does anyone know if the website is still "alive"

Curran did you buy the stand via the website or elswhere?

Regards

Daniel

Strange, maybe he doesn't ship internationally but one would still expect a reply saying so. To bad when you find something you like.

Kind Regards

Hi Bruno

Thanks for the tip. I received some pic's from Cyrus but it's not what I'm looking for. If someone know a way to get in touch with Brian Chan or know another place to purchase his stands, please let me know. Very frustrating.

Best

Daniel

I emailed Brian Chan this morning and will see if I can get a response from him.

Just a reminder that it is the summertime here in the US which means a lot of people are out on vacation around this time, so it's possible he may just be otherwise occupied at the moment.

I also noticed that when I copy and pasted his email directly from his web page the "@" symbol did not copy over into the address, which means it invalidated the email. I had to physically add the "@" symbol- so perhaps some emails went out to him and never reached their destination due to that small technical consideration.

I will keep the board posted.

Didn't see the revival of this thread until now.

I had traded a few emails with him.

I will contact him with the other email I have on file and see if I get a response.

I like his kake very much. If I had more swords, I'd buy more.

Thought about asking him to make one for a tanto, or for tsubas - but already have special stands for those.

Brian Chan replied with an email early this morning to me, Curran, and Daniel. :D

He had been occupied with some other events, so was not able to reply originally. He mentioned that he is pleasantly surprised these kake are getting such attention now.

He did have some remaining stands available, but noted that the acrylic varied in thickness so there was not such a snug fit. Therefore, he inquired as to whether he should do a new batch of these if there is interest.

I suggested he post here on the board to see how many folks would like to order, so hopefully we will see another quick update soon.

Hi

Have any of you guys heard anything more from Brian? As if he could deliver the few stands he had left or an app. deliverytime of a new batch. I tried once again to get some answers but don't get a reply. My last email were sent about two weeks ago.

Cheers

Daniel

Last email received from Brian Chan was also a few weeks ago. I had inquired about getting some new stands created for me since he mentioned the existing ones left in stock needed a bit of work to get the parts to fit nicely. I haven't heard back since then unfortunately. :dunno:

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one, unless your post is really relevant and adds to the topic..
