Type99 Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 Greetings All, Opinions are most appreciated on this recent Saya find. My concern is that it might be a Chinese copy. Thanks Dow C Quote
Geraint Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 Hi Dow. Looks alright to me. What would make you think it a Chinese copy and why are you buying saya? Quote
Tcat Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 What makes you think that it might be a 'Chinese copy'? And there I was thinking that if a saya looks ok and works ok..... Quote
Jorgensen Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 Its genuine, however not very old... If chinese copy, they wouldnt bother making this feature as marked on picture I think. Quote
Type99 Posted November 1, 2012 Author Report Posted November 1, 2012 I got the Saya off Ebay a number of months ago and simply don't trust a lot of sellers there. Anyhow I trust the forum members opinions here. And am thankful for the replies. Quote
Jean Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 Dow, These kind of scabbards are of no interest to be faked. Most of them can be made anywhere and are widely spread in iaido. They are copied by thousand The good question is: is it real Japanese urushi manufactured. BTW, this kind of urushi is one of the most difficult to achieve Quote
