runagmc Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Darth Vader with elf ears... Quote
IanB Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Lindus, 'fairly modern' would I suggest mean 6.37pm last Tuesday. As for the gold daisy decoration Ian Bottomley Quote
Ian Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 I saw it in their shop this summer, definitely new, but very interesting. Quote
DaveT Posted October 1, 2012 Report Posted October 1, 2012 That Daimyo fellow on ebay had one of these some time back. It was void of all those lovely go faster stickers. There must be a few of these, as the other one did have surface cracks? Would look great as a motorbike helmet, or even a Farscape villain for the SyFy channel. Quote
Baka Gaijin Posted October 1, 2012 Report Posted October 1, 2012 Good morning all, An interesting thought Luc, but I wonder whether Fukutake san would have made something so untraditional as this piece. The works I have seen attributed to him are quite traditional. For anyone who doesn't know the name, here's a couple of links with a bio of Fukutake san's work: http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/i ... i-74490381 http://www.shogunart.com/Menpo8.html Cheers PS Good to hear from you DaveT Quote
Ian Posted October 1, 2012 Report Posted October 1, 2012 Hello all I did wonder if this had been made in the last 100 years http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/20190/lot/46/ Quote
Lindus Posted October 1, 2012 Author Report Posted October 1, 2012 Have to say that in the past I had two Showa period Somen which were spectacular, shinto or koto Somen would have been un affordable for most folk,me included. Agree that those "mon" were pretty lousy and wonder why the maker did that as the rest from the pic's make it seem decent work. Thanks for the feedback, but as a fun item and at that price it would have been ok to have, well why not?. Assume the one at Bonhams was signed. Quote
Lindus Posted October 2, 2012 Author Report Posted October 2, 2012 Had a chat with Tsruta san,he is convinced that this is not Gendai{Int} but older??? Quote
DaveT Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 Found these in Matsue Castle during my lunch break. They were listed as being old, but looked gendai, probably Fukutake Ichiro? As you can see the mei has been removed, a little of the inscription is remaining. What do ya think? (ps hello Malcolm) Quote
estcrh Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 What do ya think? Dave, very crisp clean lines etc, they just look to good. Quote
