The Mosle catalogue - a request ....

Does any kind member have a copy of the Moslé catalogue? Haynes describes a tsuba on p. 273, #871 of this catalogue as ‘mokkō shape iron plate tsuba a centipede carved in sunken relief, signed Murakami Sumifuru and kao, and on the reverse signed Andō Naohiro…’. I should very much like a scan of this entry if you would be so kind.

With thanks, John L.

Thank you Pete. I too looked at that posting and was unable to find the reference. I note that this only has 133 pages - perhaps there is a second catalogue? John L.

The second catalog does not have fittings. It is lacquer, clothing and other items. Mosle had a diverse collection of Japanese art forms.

I once had the set and have been looking for another for some time now.

Hi John L.,

You request reminded me of the following nice tsuba sold on Grey's website over the weekend: http://www.japaneseswordbooksandtsuba.com/store/holbrook-tsuba/h304-sumifuranaohiro. As Pete also linked to his website Grey maybe a good source of information. I am not that familiar with the collection. Sorry about not being much help.
