Hi Alex.

Tosogu = collective noun for sword fittings. Jean was suggesting that they were the ones to help you.

The translation is given on the Ebay description, the tsuba is to my eye nice and of course it has papers so you can have some confidence. The question is, do you like it? Enough to spend money on? If the answer to those two questions is, "Yes!" then away you go. You might also find something to your taste here, http://www.silk-road.us/iron.html

Have fun!

Sorry, is it my eyes playing tricks, but in the second photo with the papers and tsuba laid next to the photographed tsuba, the seki gane has been altered :? .

not your eyes Ray looks like a transformation from copper to lead. I suppose it could have been replaced after the tsuba was papered but who knows?

Hi All, don't want to burst anyone's bubble but is it not possible that a crafty person has a papered tsuba, copies it, then sells a copy of The original paper and copied tsuba?

I don't want get too "conspiracy therory" but I see it all the time with rare coins.

Just sayin,
