estcrh Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 I saved this image some time in the past and just found it again while cleaning up some files, I have never seen this yari shape before and was wondering what this particular shape would be called. It looks like a combination of kikuchi yari and jumonji yari. Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 A first for me too. It's not a later conversion? Quote
estcrh Posted August 24, 2012 Author Report Posted August 24, 2012 Piers, it could be modern or a made up one etc, I was hoping some one here might have seen another one. Quote
Geraint Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 Would love to say I had one but... illustrated in R and P Knutsen, Fig 29, "An unusual tsukushi - uekama - jumonji- yari. Another in Bottomely and Hopson, page 148. Not a modern make up or a later conversion but a nice piece. Cheers Quote
Gilles Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 First time I see such a shape. But I've noticed that the imagination of the Japanese swordsmiths, especially concerning yari is without limit. :D Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 If it wasn't documented, I would have guessed that it was a Photoshop blade.... Piers, are you back? Ken Quote
