bullpuppy Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 One of my swords from the Chicago Shinsa was attributed to Hidetoshi. Any information on this maker would be appreiciated. http://www.fototime.com/inv/17FDB901F678FB7 Quote
pcfarrar Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 Pupil of Amahide. Says he made some Amahide blades. Rated in Slough as Low to medium grade showato and gendaito. Quite a suprising result, I wouldn't have thought gendaito from the images. Does it say ubu on the worksheet? Quote
Stephen Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 Tenryushi Hidetoshi right.....they gave me same smith for this blade. no its not gendai to anymore that the one Tim is showing. Something is very fishy about the whole mess. btw i turned the passing paper down and took a pink. Quote
bullpuppy Posted May 2, 2007 Author Report Posted May 2, 2007 I will post the paper when I get it. So Stephen they attributed your blade to the same smith at the same shinsa? So when you found out whom they though it was you decided to take the pink instead. How does my blade compare to yours out of curiosity. My blade is not tired but I would not recommend another polish. This seems very strange... Quote
Stephen Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 i said Stever but i ment yours... your blade looks like its shinto or shinshinto being lacks much sori. I really dont want to say much more until Mo contacts me, a first i thought there was a paper mix up like what happend at the NYC Shinsa...but two older blades both getting Hidetoshi gendaito Quote
pcfarrar Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 ...but two older blades both getting Hidetoshi gendaito Which Hidetoshi do you have if it isn't the pupil of Amahide? Have you got a rating for him from the Toko Taikan? Judging from the pics, if the attribution is correct he must have been a pretty decent smith with some skill at copying older blades. Quote
Stephen Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 from the Gendai Toko Meikan Kanesaki Hidetoshi - Hidetoshi/Tenryushi p. 132 Hawley Hid200 Tokyo 1967 10 tk522 heres a scan from the former book, i do not have the pink in hand its in the mail, i was told Tenryushi, i dont beleave Tim's or mine is Gendaito, you can if you like. From what i heard they were swanped at the shinsa and over booked, if they came across a good blade that they did not know who it was the lessered it down to give it a passing grade, i sent mine kowing it would not pass but wanted to pinpoint it down to den and era, to me its a slap in the face to tell me my blade is missing a zero on its age, but hey im just some gaigen who dont know better so i should take it and be happy.....sorry.
