I wish I could make it to the show but other works tied up. Can anyone who attended the Chicago show give us a update? I heard Milt sold out all his junks...Ops...I mean tsuba.....

 

How is the Shinsa? more pink papers than white....as usual!

Re: Shinsa. There were so many "pinks" thay actaully ran out of pink paper, thay had to use blue, which i guess is appropriate as you are blue if you get pinked.

So I guess the standard of passing NTHK paper is getting more stricter than before or there are still so many gimei left in the states.

I did not mean to imply they were unfair, it may be that the quality of what was submitted was low (there was a shinsa 6 months ago). I think they are strict but the "pinks" i saw were understandable, a couple of things i had seen before shinsa and i thought they were gimei.

I just got an email from Mo and my two swords passed. One was a meji period Kanemoto late generation Kanemoto. The other one was attributed to a showa maker hidetoshi. Both received kanteisho at 70points. This is my third sword submitted to a shinsa and so far all have passed. The first one was bought through advice on this board (thanks everyone) and the second two I bought on my own through ebay. The Kanemoto was posted here some time ago and pretty much dismissed as Geimei, gunto etc. I don't think I posted the Koto.

I take it from this comment that you know of others that received Hidetoshi attributions at this shinsa? Do shinsa orgs do this often with blades that deserve papers but they otherwise aren't sure of? I remember hearing of something similar happening at the NJ shinsa last fall.

Not the same Hidetoshi thats in Slough's book, do a search in JSI hes n most of the Gendai meikans, dont know whats going on i cant reach BIG MO. or hes not getting back until he knows more...im in the dark.
