I was just very surprised to hear that there will be a sword show in Orlando in a few weeks. Information on their site is very light, anyone have additional details? Is this affiliated with the Florida Token Kai? I am curious to know how attendance will be. The 'current dealers' section of the site is password protected and does not work even after registration.

I received an invitation via snail mail several weeks ago.

The show is being put on by Bob Elder. Nice guy whom I have known for years, Bob was/is a member and served on the board for the Florida Token Kai. I have not heard any other mention regarding his proposed show.

He is a long time resident of the Orlando area, and teacher of Toyama Ryu Battdo.

Bob Elder is very qualified to run such an event. He knows the Japanese sword from both a Collecting and Martial Art perspective. He is responsible for introducing me to the hobby. He always took the time to go over Sword Appreciation with me.

I hope the show is a success. Maybe I'll reach out and see if I can help.

I think the success of these shows is important to Japanese Sword Collecting.

I just spoke with Bob and booked my table.

It sounds like I will see some familiar faces there. Also, there should be some nice swords. I understand they are also having a Kantei contest.

I will have some nice Swords, Tosogu and Microtech knives. Hope to see you there.

Hey Pete:

Yes, I do remember that. That was a schlep and a half. I also remember Wilma, which was supposed to only be a Cat 1, turned into a hell of a storm. I was not even going to throw the hurraicane shutters on. Happy I did.

Does anyone have photos and details on the Orlando show? That was the weekend Tropical Storm Isaac (later Hurricane Isaac) passed through, and I didn't see any way I could have attended and driven back south to Miami Sunday night.

Thanks,

Ray
