Dewa501 Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 Hello all. Seeking information on this Fuchi Kashira, plain brass (I dont think its called that) raised dots done with a concave punch I guess in very straight lines, with tiny borders, no signature, plain, but rather atractive I think. Any thoughts will be very welcome Thanks. Chris. F. Quote
Gunome Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 hello, a sentoku (brass) fuchi kashira in nanako patern sebastien Quote
Ford Hallam Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 Brass is called shinchu (old terminology) or O-do ( modern term) in Japanese. Sentoku is a bronze and quite different. Essentially, brass is copper and zinc whereas bronze is copper and tin. Shinchu is malleable whereas sentoku is quite hard and brittle. This set is therefore almost certainly shichu, ie; brass. Quote
Dewa501 Posted August 3, 2012 Author Report Posted August 3, 2012 Thank you for your replys, thanks Sebastian, and Ford, as usual sorting it all out for us, I have only ever heard of sentoku being brass, thanks for the explnation. Chris. F. Quote
