  1. The group that issued this paper has been mentioned a few times on the board before. https://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/search/?q=銃砲刀剣研究会&quick=1 Needless to say, if you owned a Muramasa sword you would want to get it authenticated by the NBTHK. Especially if it were 2020 (when this paper was issued) when it was still super easy to submit swords to the NBTHK. There would be no reason to seek the authentication of any group other than NBTHK...unless you didn't like the NBTHK's judgment.
  2. That's a fair point. Apparently, the 銃砲刀剣研究会 (Gun and Sword Research Society/Juho Touken-Kenkyukai) believes the sword may be Muramasa though, alongside alleged (won't assume they're real or fake) papers by Hon'ami Mitsumi.
  3. Ah thanks! Katana, Naginata naoshi Mumei (but attributed to Gassan Sadakiyo) Juhō Tōken Kenkyū Kai 銃砲刀剣研究会 Signed by a Mr Tsujimoto. 18 April 2024
  4. Matthew, I previously translated and provided a date for you on Facebook. A mumei Mino Kanekage katana dated to Tensho period. From the 銃砲刀剣研究会 - Juho Token Kenkyukai. Is there something further that you were looking for?
  5. A little correction, Jūhō Tōken Kenkyū Kai (銃砲刀剣研究会)
  6. Here is the sword its to. The "authentication paper" attributes it to Kaneyoshi Mino Muroumachi era. That's all I know. I'm tempted by it bwcause it's katana length (25" nagasa) and mostly because I have two wakizashi with the same bohi design and same-ish time frames...so I can put together a poor man's daisho. Price is about $2.5k. Any opinions? We'll pretend the 銃砲刀剣研究会 (Jūhō Tōken Kenkyūkai) Guns and Swords Research Association (thanks Steve M) "authentication" paper doesn't exist in the deal.
  7. A new group - 銃砲刀剣研究会 (Jūhō Tōken Kenkyūkai) Guns and Swords Research Association. I think this group is affiliated with a dealer in Osaka. There was a query here recently about this same type of paper. Not to be confused with NBTHK.
  8. The paper was issued by 銃砲刀剣研究会 - Juho Token Kenkyukai. I do not think that it is better than NTHK or NBTHK.
  9. The so called "juhō tōken kenkyū-kai" (銃砲刀剣研究会) is run by the sword shop Musashi-ya (むさし屋). Kobayashi Yukinobu (小林幸信) never was an official of the NBTHK, he's a (not very well known) polisher.
  10. (with the help of Nobody san) The name of the organization is Juho-Token-Kenkyukai (銃砲刀剣研究会). The leader of the group is Kobayashi Yukinobu (小林幸信) who seems to be a polisher. The group seems to be supported by a sword shop. The shop seems to be Musashiya (むさし屋). http://www16.ocn.ne.jp/~musasiya/token.htm http://www.militaria.co.za/nihontomessa ... ight=#5482

The papers of "Nihon Tosogu Kenkyu-kai (日本刀装具研究会)" and " Juho Token Kenkyu-kai (銃砲刀剣研究会)" seem to be issued through this shop in Osaka. http://www16.ocn.ne.jp/~musasiya/token.htm
  12. Hi, I only know a little about the paper from hearsay and I do not know the exact fact. The name of the organization is Juho-Token-Kenkyukai (銃砲刀剣研究会). The leader of the group is Kobayashi Yukinobu (小林幸信) who seems to be a polisher. The group seems to be supported by a sword shop. The shop seems to be Musashiya (むさし屋). http://www16.ocn.ne.jp/~musasiya/token.htm The paper says; Wakizashi Mumei (unsigned; attributed to Yamato Daijo Sukesada) Ca. Shotoku (正徳; 1711-1716)
