  1. Thanks for the replies.
  2. I'm thinking this maybe a gimei signature.
  3. A collector highly recommended using Japanese Camellia oil which I have never used.
  4. Thanks for the replies I think I will buy it. What is a good natural oil to use on an old blade?
  5. I'm hoping someone cam confirm the tang translation on this Wakizashi I'm considering buying. Interesting the spider grabbing what appears to be a bee. The blade appears to be exceptional.
  6. I ask admin to delete the first two treads I posted with out the pictures and than everything disappeared. Anyhow here are some more pics once again its a shame this blade wasn't taken care of. Thanks for the translation.
  7. Need some help on a tang translation. Thanks

    Helmet

Any information on this helmet is appreciated. Their is a head liner inside.
  12. Thanks George, & Malcolm.
  13. Thanks for the reply, their are no other markings on the sword. I have seen the Tokyo arsenal mark on other Type 25 cross guards
  14. Enclosed are pictures of a very hard to find Type 25 Cav sword. Research reveals this sword saw a limited service life 1893/1897 time frame before being replaced by the Type 32. Anyhow it's the only one I have manage to get my grubby paws on and add to my collection. Their is also a serial number on the scabbard drag. Any help on the small kanji marks on the blade would be appreciated.

    Nice Wakizashi

The signature is indeed gold plated lacquer. Overall blade length tip to end of tang is 14 inches. So it's a shorty.
