  5. Hi, Bicchu Koku ju Sadatsugu.Oan 2nen 2gatsu-hi.(February, 1369). This blade was made by Sadatsugu in Nanbokucho period.
He was a son of Aoe Suketsugu. At first his signature was Morisada.
And after, his signature changed to Sadatsugu.

  6. Dear Darcy, When I said the boshi is not typical Motoshige I meant that it wouldn't let me think about this smith because it's not 'common' for him. Obviously my kantei was wrong. No big deal. Sorry to post some oshigata that I found in my books of Motoshige and Den-Motoshige to enjoy the members and share some information about this smith. And about the question 'is there more than one generation ?' : I wanted to start a discussion and hoped that some members gave their own opinion about it BUT now that you have said that nobody knows unless you have a timemachine, the discussion ends. If we can't discuss different opinions about history than what's the use of reading about it. Dear Darcy history is like a Japanese sword it changes if you change the angle from where you're looking at it. And if you ask my opinion about anything that concerns history (including anything that have been written about Motoshige), I don't believe anything, I just have an opinion. Greetings Micha

  8. The question should be : Is it an old (ko-motoshige) or a late Motoshige ? Is there more than one generation ? Greetings Micha Fujishiro: MOTOSHIGE OSAFUNE [KENMU 1334 BIZEN] CHKOTO JOJOSAKU He is the son of Osafune Morishige, he is considered to be the older brother of Shigezane, and has the G of kura no Suke. The two people, the older Rai Motoshige, and the Motoshige who was one of the three disciples of Sadamune, are made out to be separate persons, but the denial of the three disciples of Sadamune is for the same reason as that of the ten disciples of Masamune. The older Motoshige is seen as being of the early period, and is thought to have been rather a senpai. The reason the styles of the earlier Motoshige and the Motoshige after Kenmu are different are due to the changes of the times. His works can be seen covering a time span of over fifty years, from Kagen to Enbun and Jji, and the long life of Motoshige is the subject of legends. Accurate proof cannot be offered from the point of records for during the kot period, but during the shint period, there are many records of kaji with long working lives of fifty or sixty years. The works of this smith include many tachi, hamon is sugu saka-gokoro ashi iri, and there are some with nokogiri ha, gonome choji nado. Also, there are takenokozori (musori) tant, and when he reached his later years, he also made sakizori tant, and there are also nagamaki. (Saij wazamono)

    Fukuro yari

Hi, The Masa character below is the one I meant when I said 'with some fantasy'. Like you can see you need a lot of fantasy. The first generation is the only one who signed this way. The second picture shows the more usual way.

    Fukuro yari

Hi again, Here's signature of a genuine second generation Yari (sold by Darcy).Even if you don't see to the details you notice that it feels stronger. M.

    Fukuro yari

Dear Mariusz, I've seen many signatures of this smith and yours doesn't look like it at all. If you have much fantasy you can say the Masa character looks like a first generation. But even with this fantasy you can't say the MURA character is genuine. Read the article again. OR .... maybe there's a generation I haven't seen yet. Looks like a nice yari. Greetings, Micha
