  1. Hi Ed I appreciate your comments. My living room table is covered with books as we speak and I have more coming. My involvement in the oriental arts spans many years [from age 19] and only now have I begun to focus on nihonto. Unfortunately the world if full of "dealers" and sellers who cheat the unknowing and I hope my studies and association with groups like this will prevent that. I find that understanding the concept of Bushido [or trying to understand] is for me the first and important step into the world of nihonto. I know that my collection will begin one day when I have in my hands a katana or wakizashi that speaks to me in a way that few will understand. When will this happen? Who knows. Maybe tomorrow or maybe a year from now. First I must learn and study. My only regret is that I waited so long to begin the journey. It is unfortunate that there are so few collectors here in Calgary [only 2 that I know of]. Good luck with your studies and in your search for that first aquisition. Dwayne
  2. Thanks Colin. I'll be contacting them over the next few days. Dwayne
  3. Thanks Charlie I am hoping that a collector from Calgary will answer my post and I can get started meeting people and also kick start my education. Dwayne
  4. Hello I am a new member and green as the grass. An old guy, 59, and finally got around to making my passion for edged weapons a reality. I've been facinated by Nihonto since forever and finally want to own one or two of my own so will be looking for a lot of advice from all you oldtimers out there. I guess a place to start would be to find out if there are any collectors here in Calgary. If there is, please contact me. Happy to be aboard and looking forward to owning my first Katana. Cheers Dwayne
