  1. 國次 koto?
  2. marvelous, thank you!
  3. I read: 小林 something 道 no idea what that third character is. any idea?
  4. One does take significant risks in participating in this sort of auctions...
  5. They have a few blades: http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/photo ... &zip=&kwd= what do you think? That wak's color looks so strange.
  6. I could only make out three or four in the center. any idea?
  7. very nice indeed.
  8. in comparison, it is rather clear that this is gimei.
  9. i am not so sure about any of these, ubu, koto, etc. thank you all for the comments.
  10. as i said, if i could post very large pictures then a lot of the details will just speak for themselves. i am saying this because i have not mastered many of the jargons yet. anyway, the hamon is kind of Kanefusa-midare, which suggests Mino. on the hand it looks like nioi-deki and hence points to Bizen school work. the nakago also looks Bizen. here are 3 more pics
  11. this is a mumei piece, but ubu nakago
  12. this is the second blade i got. i have asked Bob Benson if this is worth any restoration work. he seems to think so (but needs hands-on examination to be sure, of course) would like to hear your thoughts....Kanefusa midare, bizen or mino? only small pictures are allowed to be posted here, otherwise a lot more can be shown in these pictures.
  13. absolutely outrageous the way he treats the blade: marker on the polished surface and direct contact with the concrete floor which can easily scratch the blade. the guy throws a lot of jargons but obviously shows no respect.
  14. http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/6752528 of course the challenging question in kantei is: who actually made it?
  15. 34 i am, two wakizashis i have bought, so far. just started collecting a few months ago, actually. i am a mathematician and don't have any uncle who can give away blades as gift. unlucky me!!
  16. very cheap fake sword possibly made in China within the last 10 years
  17. I am going to be Israel for a year. any info on the nihonto collecting world there? (collectors, shows, sales, etc.) I assume that it is not completely a vacuum when it comes to samurai swords?
  18. translation: "堪忍" : these two characters are synonyms, meaning "tolerate" or "persevere" "不动":motionless "明王":this is possibly a religious character of some sort. it is a total mystery to me why anyone would paint the blade and scribble nonsense on it.
  19. it is very doubtful if Bonham has anyone capable of nihonto appraisal: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/archive/200504A13.html she actually said that the valuable parts of the swords were the fittings, ugh!
  20. hi, i am new here. i think the mei is 兼今,should be one of the Sue-Seki school smiths.
