Hello all,
I have had an old tsuka in the past that was deteriorated silk there where small triangle shaped paper under the wrap, is this still practiced today as I've watched tsuka being wrapped on youtube but not sure the paper method was used.

Hello all
Maybe I'm way of with this as I don't know much, ok nothing, yet about tsuba but do you think this is the same tsube pictured in the paper or a copy?

Hello all
I have asked the question of shinsa on a few occasions of the boys in the Northern To-ken society and it seems the cost to bring a team over again far out weights the interest and amount of blades, fittings etc that where registered to be presented to the team.
So would it be a fair suggestion to involve someone like Mr Martin as he has suggested, or someone else who has similar connections and airmiles to Japan take multiple items from collectors in the UK to have them papered, maybe a combined multiple pieces may bring the price down a little rather than sending a single item?
Peter
Hello All,
just a general question i,m sure must have been covered but was there a difference through the era's on the placement of menuki on the Tsuka or did it depend on the wrap or personal prefarence?
many thanks,
Peter
Hello all,
Leading on from my original threat and the beautiful koshirae that Kunitaro san posted I thought I would traul the net to see if it was listed anywhere which swordsmith (s) the Honda family may have used, I came across this, not sure if its related but an amusing and informative read , Honda Tadakatsu, what a guy.

Hello all,
Now if the answer to your question is known Eric that could be the end of what constitutes a 'true' Dai-Sho,
If it was good enough for a Daimyo who are we to argue.
Peter
Thank you Brian that's why I didn't find anything ,
Also thank you kunitaro san for posting such a beautiful set of koshirae ,
I fear my blades would not be of the quality deserving of such fine artistry.
I would love to have seen the original blades.
Peter
Thank you Paul and Barry for your input.
The reason for my asking is i have a katana and long wakizaah in different style shira saya. By father and son/grandson. Bungo Takada Tomoyuki. So in the. Future and when i win the lottery it would be nice to match them up with appropriate fittings
Peter
Hello and a happy new year to all,
I am not sure if I have read on this board what a "true" dia sho (large small) is,
A katana/wakizashi or wakizashi /tanto or 2 blades made by the same smith/school or 2 swords of either combination but having matching koshorie of all of the above?
Many thanks
Peter
Hello and Happy new year to all.
I wondered since I got a new tablet from santa are there any swordsmith kanji to english downloads for computer? I bought Greys flashcards so I'M thinking along those lines.
Thank you
Peter
