    Hagiri

Hello all, a Question that i have wanted to ask for a while , as far as Hagiri go on flaws of a Nihonto, is it generally thought, That's it the blade is scrap or worthless or in some instances are they, not as much over looked but excepted in blades of a certain age? Peter

Thank you Darcy, I think your the 3rd to suggest shin shinto, including Peter Farrar and Ian Bottomley who seen it briefly in hand just after I bought it. So does this bring us any closer to a school or smith? Peter

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jmqtw4g24qa2 ... wfLrYmwdfa Hello to all, I feel fortunate to have aquired this tanto , after looking at some books yesterday this is what I have so far but hope for corrections and additional information and comments as you see them. I appreciate your input. Length- 32.6cm nagasa- 23.2cm Moto-haba- 1" Mune- lori-mune yasurine- katte- sagari leading into kiri hada- mokume Boshi- ko maru sagari I am also thinking Yamashiro tradition for school ? Many thanks Peter
  13. Hi Ron, Geraint is correct it is not illegal if you can prove it has been made by traditional methods , my recommendation is communication with customs, also plenty of information about the item in with the sword addressed to the customs. paperwork, information and communication is the key. "flying god?"

Hello all i picked this up a while back for the novelty of the carving rather than the blade to be honest , i wonder if anyone on the board has come across similar carved sword housings/shirasaya/koshorie not sure what to call it, it came with a sale tag saying '' Wakizashi in the form of Kamakazi (divine wind) very unusual and rare'' the blade itself looks Shinto to me with nearly all the ha machi and mune machi gone, it is 18 inches nagasa with some kizu but hada and hamon visible. any ideas on this would be appreciated Peter https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8ki0jgsnufpidga/PImV18OIfk

    Favourite school

Miha im glad I'm not alone on this one. I was asked recently do I know which school I prefer yet, I know its a personal preferance and the norm in nihonto collecting but as don't get the time I would like to read more and view quality blades I haven't chosen yet and maybe never will. I will enjoy what I have at the moment until I see item I would sell everything I have to own. Peter

    Favourite school

thank you Gent for your input i will look up each in turn for examples, i really haven't made my mind up yet as to a particular school, i do like the older blades more as to their history and battle that may have been in but i do see beauty in each blade i have , Peter
