  5. Hello, I would appreciate some help with translating this piece, I purchase this tanto recently and am having trouble finding the maker. I've gone through my books and i can't find anything quite like this I believe it is koto between 1370-1440. I cannot identify the school nor the maker. I'm reading the signature as muneiyekuni and the last character is either hise or moto I believe. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tim S.
  6. Good Morning, I asked my son to post these four tanto for me as I have been sick with heart trouble and am having difficulty translating the shinsa papers. I seem too do well enough with swords but never quite got the hang of fittings makers mei's. Any assistantance will be greatly appreciated. 19. Greetings, I just had a close friend bring this to me to see if I could read it. Its a little bit beyond my skill set. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The box contains a tanto which I will try to get photos. I enjoyed seeing several old friends at the Minneapolis Shinsa and did well with the Shinsa team. I had a custom made Maso tanto paper very well along with a Kajihei tanto which he actually signed himself along with the blade carver. I also had a fine Bizen Yasumitsu tachi and fittings paper well along with several other pieces. I just booked for Tampa and am looking forward to meeting several of you face to face. I can't begin to say how much enjoyment I get from this site and its members. Tim S http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/83 ... itsu1.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/86 ... itsu2.jpg/
  20. Hi, I have a tanto that just passed shinsa by him. It is signed and has the horimono smith signiture. The horimono is gold inlayed. I will try to post a photo of it in the next couple of days.
  21. Just getting settled in and have to take a moment to thank Larry and Chris for a tremendous job in organizing and running the show. I was able to renew several old acquaintances and able to meet several new ones. I have done 7 shinsas before this and I think this was possibly the best in the way it was conducted. I was literally the last person to go through the shinsa and had the opportunity to watch the team at work. They were careful and took their time coming to their decisions. I had ten pieces submited and was very happy with results. A tanto by Kajihei which he actually signed and dated along with the engravers signiture and a customer ordered tanto by Masao. All the katana did well including 3 very fine Bizen blades. I 'm looking forward to the next one in Florida. Tim S
  22. Well to add my 2 cents. Not even close. TimS
  23. I thank all of you for your help. Does anyone have any information on the fittings maker. Where and when he worked. I have been unable to find anything. Part of the fittings seem to be solid gold which I know is quite unusual. Tim S
  24. Please let me know if anyone else is having a problem opening these links. Tim S
  25. Hi I have the following papers on a tanto I acquired several years ago. I will post photos of the blade it is in hitatsura and mounts tomorrow. It is near perfect condition.
