  1. hello all came accross this nice and beefy waki. it had a crane mon (or maybe smith logo?) under the habaki. signature seem like a 17th century smith (likely a good one given the quality of the blade). did you already come accross such a mon on a blade? thx Fred

  4. thx a lot for your help the blade is indeed much much better than average (and the mounting is top quality - like we would expect for a 94 model) there is a stamp but very difficult to see as the rust took its toll!
  5. hello i would really appreciate your help on the mei for the date, i think i got it right SHOWA JYU NI NEN NI GATSU => February 1938 (1926+12) => this is a gunto 94 model for the signature i am struggling a bit more XX SHU? SEKI? MINA? ZANE? SAKU thx in advance

  7. Dear all, After weeks of research, I have finally nearly traduced all the kanjis of my blades ;o) Nevertheless, I cannot find 4 kanjis on 3 blades !! For the first mei, I read KANE XXX KORE SAKU For the second mei (koto blade), well I must admit I have no clue (I would say, the first kanji looks a bit like NOBU or SADA and the second one like SEN or RYO) For the third mei, I read XXX HIDE (I would say, the missing kanji looks a bit like NORI) Any help is welcome. Thank you very much for your time
