  1. You guys really saved me from splashing money wastefully, thank you all.
  2. Thanks Brian, what a shame.
  3. I have received the additional photos, unfortunately it looks like a showato to me 😕 could be wrong, maybe just a poor polish.
  4. Yes Rawa, £1 - 1.5k is the auctioneers estimate, bearing in mind the 35% tax added on top, or 30% if you leave a commission bid on the auctioneers personal website and shipping/ collection associated fees.
  5. Thank you all for your responses, I have sent a follow up message to the seller requesting a photo of the hamon and jihada as well, which is currently being obstructed by the oil, can’t decide to get it unless they respond before it goes to auction on Wednesday morning. Well I guess if they’re too slow to reply someone else will snatch it up, but o well collecting is like a waiting game after all.
  6. I have requested a photo of the tang from the seller, I’m awaiting the response, it’s the weekend so I guess they will take their time.
  7. Gentleman, I wished to ask for your expert opinion while paying you back with some eye candy, I Have found this Noshu Seki ju Kenemichi Sword for sale, unfortunately there are no tang photos to examine, the photos could be better and the blade itself seems to be obstructed by preserving oil, however it still looks impressive, I thought that many of you would enjoy taking a peek. The blade itself looks gendaito, but without taking a better look at the grain one can't evaluate it to its fullest. The saya seems to have possibly been repainted, the blade looks genuine, with the trademark sanbonsugi -esc hamon of the smith being clearly visible. I have found him in Sloughs book, he was rated at 2 million yen, he worked in the Mino tradition, was a teacher to his younger brother Kanenori and son Kanetoki. I would love to hear your opinions :D
  8. Not at all, as long as it’s in a shirasaya. I’m just picky polish wise.
  9. Hey everyone, I’m brand new here. I’m London based, I owned a lovely Chounsai Emura Gendaito a few years back and regret selling it sorely. I’m currently looking to buy one back, it’s just hard to find one at auction recently. I’m wondering if anyone has any of his works in their collection with which they would be okay to part with. My budget is flexible and ofc dependent on the blades condition, looking forward to hearing back from you guys. Thank you 😊
