  1. Hello, I am looking for information about the whereabouts of the statue of Col. Carroll Victor Cadwell here in Japan. My friend Christine Cadwell is the granddaughter of Col. C. V. Cadwell. Chris lives is California. My name is Jeff Morris and I live in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan. I am researching the location of the Colonel’s statue which was put on display in some museum here in Japan in 1973-1974. The Statue was created by sculptor Mr. Toshio Homma. At the base of this state are the words: “The name of Col. C. V. Cadwell should forever be remembered as the savior of the Japanese art sword. - Junji Homma, October 1973” I have most recently been in contact with the JSSUS, of who provided me the link for this huge message board. The dedication read as follows: After the end of the World War II, Japanese swords of a considerable number were confiscated as dangerous weapons by the order of the. Occupation Forces of Allied Powers. The policy was later amended repeated petition of Japanese sword lovers and authorities, but the situation was little improved, since examining of art swords was still carried en by the Occupation Forces. Colonel C. V. Cadwell, who was in charge of the 8th Army Provost Marshal, was most concerned with the loss of the swords of articstic and historic value, and at his recommendation, there was organized the official Japanese Sword Appraisal Committee, through the activities of which most of the masterpieces of Japanese swords came to be duly protected. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Any information you have will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely and Respectfully, Jeff Morris Nagoya, Aichi Japan
