Is this sword more of Soshu or Yamato ?

I doubt anyone can tell who made a mumei one anyway. To me, if the condition is great, the era sound about right and the blade speaks to me then yes. -
A question for Shinshinto collectors
Bosco replied to Natichu's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
I’m newbie too. I don’t focus on which era but I’m trying to learn the foundation all the basics. I’m more on the condition of any blade, if it’s healthy, no dmg I buy to study. Easier than focusing on specific era. -

Is this sword more of Soshu or Yamato ?
Bosco replied to Bosco's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
I love it at the first sign. So I made a phone call straight to Japan and I glad they have English speaking staff working at the time. So yeah. Thinking to get it NBTHK paper for it but its already has NPO paper ranking as Yushuto so not much to worry about, its a mumei at the end of the day. The thing that I love about it is its look so mean 😆. -

I’m acquiring this blade at the moment. Will see what it’s like in person. It’s very beefy and healthy for its age. -
Is this sword more of Soshu or Yamato ?

The NPO NTHK paper said Yamato Shizu , yet on their own NPO NThK book they put the description as Shizu Saburo Kaneuji. I’m a bit confused as well. But despite the point, is NPO Yushu equivalent to Juyo ?. -

This is what others told me. It’s a mixture of Soshu-Yamato Shizu and little bit of Mino. -

Finally received my sword. I tried to take some photo but still an amateur in this game. So far im still trying to learn the name for hamon and the hada. I think it would take sometime before I can identify them correctly. Nagasa : 71.7cm Sori : 2.2cm

Which would you get? Mei or Mumei
Bosco replied to RichardY's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
My Sukesada is 1581. Gotta say its massive. Blade 71.7cm and sori 2.2. I think it will be based on the condition of the blade than the actual Mei. -
Our humidity in Australia is very low especially where I live. Problem would be extra dry is equal more dust in the air. I think taking it out monthly to check is a good idea for now.

Thank you, just another question. For the nakago oiling. Some said no some said yes, but I believe it’s necessary to lightly oil it to prevent red rust. What is your recommendation for oiling the nakago ?

Hi, I was just wondering is 3 in one oil safe for Japanese Blade ?. I don’t have access for o Choji oil so thinking of using this as an alternative.

Can this two considering Daisho ?
Bosco replied to Bosco's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
Thats a lot of info, thank you Jussi. I did read a few last night, both seem to have lot of joint blade. Some said the 3rd finishing Kinmichi 2nd half finished blade, or made at the same time…But the date was really confusing sometimes from different sources. I will have to wait till the blade in my hand and do more study on them by then.
