  1. I would expect higher quality from Goto works. But I am no expert in Goto, nor in Tosugu. Some of the other members may clarify this.
  2. I like it... Aizu Shoami perhaps?
  3. Yes, Kaneshige indeed... but still would like to see pictures when sword arrives
  4. Dear Sirs, On behalf of a friend of mine, I seek your help translate this paper. I think I might see attribution to Shimada school, but I am unsure. If any can be so kind to translate the whole paper, it will be much appreciated.
  5. You can have both windows 7/8 and XP installed on same machine and on boot choose which one you want to launch. So when you want to use TOSHOW you just boot up with Win XP... Its a possibility and easily done...
  6. This is a Bakamatsu Tsuba and is original and seems like a nice Tsuba in this catergori. Its from Meiji period. You can try to google bakamatsu tsuba.
  7. Haha... Well, here's the pictures Thank you very, very much for your translation, John, I really appreciate it
  8. Hi Guys, I cannot crack this one, can anyone help with the translation? I'll be glad to show pictures of the fuchi/kashira, if any is interested. Thank you in advance.
  9. Well... the question is that if one thinks it looks pretty or just odd...?! :D
  10. Saw this unusual blade, attributed to Ichimonji school, at Bonhams today: http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/21861/lot/201/ Its from the Fine Japanese Arts auction to be held 15th may, London. See all the items here, there are a couple lovely items here I think: http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/21861/#/MR0_page=1&MR0_length=100&MR0_category=list&m0=0
  11. Anyone can help please?...
  12. Does any have Paul Martin´s e-mail from http://www.thejapanesesword.com/? The contact form on his website does not work properly for me. Thanks in advance.
  13. Can only recommend Pablo, he is friendly, kind and provide great communication and service.
  14. Hi Harvey, I am sure this is not first generation Daido... His signature is usually more fine and thin carved... I would love to see the blade of yours. I have one too, an out of polish Naginata-Naoshi, that is signed Mutsu (no) Kami Daido as well and have attached both scan and picture of the Nakago for your reference.
  15. Hi John, Thanks for your kind comments... Is it possible to post a picture of the mei from Kinko Meikan? Is there a translation of the mei as well? The soft metal decoration is definitively there. Both on the hands and face, as well as gold, silver and shakudo on the tsuba. Pls see markings on picture below.
  16. Dear Thierry, Thank you Do you have the picture and/or estimate/sold price from Christies to compare with?
  17. I have been using Marcus Seskos index with kanji in effort to translate this signature, but just cannot find the kanji. Anyone able to help please. Thank you in advance.
  18. Jean, Thanks for reply... Comparing to your link and other Mogarashi, my tsuba here seems gimei... How about the other tsuba - to me mei may seems to read something like "Soheishi Nudo Soten Saku. Koshu Hikone Ju"??? Question is if this is gimei too?
  19. Other Soten Tsuba
  20. Dear collectors and Soten experts, I have a couple Soten Tsuba, that I would like your help with. The first one seems to be Mogarashi Soten? -if correct, what does the other kanji say? Are the signatures valid? The other one looks to be very, very nice, but can someone help me translate it, I cant figure it out? Otherwise, just posted for your enjoyment =) Thank you.
  21. Thank you very much John Btw... measures are 84 mm (height) x 82 mm (width) x 4 mm (thickness at nakago-ana).
  22. Yep, here it is. Thanks for your help.
  23. Thank you all for your help and interest... Pete Klein... I thought you was right, but decided to test it with a standard size seppa, and actually the seppadai is flat enough for the seppa! Please see the added pictures... Christian... Very interesting. PM sent! Thanks for sharing and taking your time. Junichi... I cross my fingers you are right, and its real... Maybe someone can help and translate the mei?
  24. Dear collectors, I was given this tsuba as a gift that I quickly judge to be a cast or repro, but after closer look, the sekigane puzzles me... I would like your opinions...
  25. Nice tsuba... I like it! It reminds me of this one from the book "One Hundred Masterpieces from the Collection of Dr. Walter A. Compton"... I have attached pictures, if it can be any help... The measures are close, thickness is the same and nakago ana does look to be pretty much same shape too... However the wine leafs inlays on your tsuba dont look to be same quality as the one in Comptons book, but overall its not far from... Thats what I see...
