  1. Dear collectors, I have a large variety of many Tsuba for sale from different schools. Some are signed, others not. You can find the catalogue here: http://tsubashi.com/tsuba-catalogue-vol1-web.pdf Please let me know if you have any questions or like to see additional pictures. I will gladly be at your service. PDF file is large and may take some time to load. Kind regards Jimi-san
  2. Thanks for your comments. IMO the horimono seems to have seen some polishes, so it does not seems to be a newer addition to me and have been of better quality when newly made. If it have been made to hide flaws is difficult to say - maybe, maybe not. Does any have info on the mon / family crest? -I have searched and searched, but cant find anything on this particular one. More info on the blade / mei / which Kunishige will be much appreciated too. BaZZa... I would love to see that oshigata =) Darcy... pleease stop posting selfies haha
  3. Some pictures of a newly aquired Naginata with Horimono id like to share for your interest. Signature seem to be Kunishige (Mizuta school)... Im not sure which Kunishige...
  4. I always write content as "Antique Japanese NihonTo"... In that way you write its a (possible) Japanese sword in package... It have worked everytime
  5. Thanks for you comments, much appreciated. Darcy.... Funny that you mention the Fusamune blade, it was this one I found at some of the first on my search and found the similarities I mention in above post. And great you write your opinion as well as mentioning the info and comparison with the Yasuharu and Yasukuni smiths. Truly appreciated. The blade has a really nice koshirae too, not exactly making things worse =)
  6. Wrap the blade in a cloth soaked with petroleum, put it in a plastic bag (but dont close the bag!) and leave for a some days or a week... it will soften the rust... Wipe of the blade carefully and remove all you can... repeat it again if necessary and/or go further with for example Never Dull Metal Polish or uchiko... It will work well and will, to my experiences, not harm blade. Remember to oil the blade when finished!
  7. Congratulations Darcy, it looks RIDICULOUSLY astonishingly beautiful
  8. Thanks gentlemen for you insights, as always I highly appreciate your oppinions. When looking in hand / under magnifying glass, the tsuba is way to well made to be a cast copy. Also its clearly visible that dewdrops are individually inserted. It shows some signs that it has been mounted for a short time I think. Also when having in hand, it shows some very slight patina/wear, not much. My conclusion is that Tsuba is about 1850-1899 and have been taken good care of. However I also would like Ford's opinion... Might will try to send him an e-mail...
  9. Thanks gentlemen for you insights, as always I highly appreciate your oppinions. I have explored the Soshu Odawara way, in find many similarities from some of the other odawara smiths, so it seems to be very plausible that this Yasumitsu is the one from Odawara Soshu. Besides that, the koshirae seems too old to be Showa or certaintly Gifu as well as the patina on nakago... Think I must get this one polished and submitted to shinsa...
  10. Lovely tanto... Impossible to say if Bizen from the pictures without seeing nakago. It looks to be in pretty good shape.
  11. Yup, taking another round on the bay... take a look here: http://www.ebay.com/sch/tanto_dk/m.html?item=301852083178&hash=item4647c943ea%3Ag%3AwTkAAOSwqYBWnoHS&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 There are different items offered like: Kabuto, a Yari, lots of Tsuba's, some Netsuke, a beautiful teabowl, a very EROTIC shunga scroll (dont click on it, if you cant handle dirty pictures or wife is present), caligraphy ink case, figures aso... Please NOTICE that several of the items have "MAKE AN OFFER" button. Feel free to use it. I wish all who bid the best luck, thank you. There will be given a donation to NMB, when auctions are finished. (was unsure where to place post, so have posted both at sale/trade and auctions section)
  12. Hi, I have this little tanto, it seems mei reads Yasumitsu (if correct). Can any point me towards which generation Yasumitsu and school, have my doubts. Pictures is best I can do... Nagasa: 22.5 cm Width at hamachi: 2.1 cm Thickness at hamachi: 8 mm

    Help On Tsuba

I cannot figure out anything about this Tsuba regarding to school or similar - its not what I use to see - and would love to have some comments from you folks. Think its 1800eish and obviously in Shakudo... Measures 8.1 cm x 7.9 cm x 0.5 cm (at nakago ana) It look fantastic in hand, very beautiful - pictures do not do it justice. Thanks in advance.
  16. lol @ hamfish Very special tsuba, looks very well made, have not been easy. The pattern inside make me think of bees net.
  17. Thanks for the attention. For those who are interested, I have updated the listing of the "Hiromoto" sword with several pictures today: http://www.ebay.com/itm/301838729531?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 Also I had to cancel an Tsuba auction because I accidentally used same pictures for two auctions. However I made an new auction with the correct pictures. Apologies for that mistake and to those it may affect. This is the new one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/301839342943?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 Happy bidding and please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Does any other have a Tsuba by this Tadamitsu or similar "head" tsuba, I would love to see. Are these tsuba rare?

    Koto tachi

When we looked at the sword, I tried to write the (very faint) mei the best I could (yes! -I know im not good at it ) However I agree what James say, that the 和 (Tegai) kanji is not far from what I wrote... Here is the paper I did. Hope it may lead the investigation further...

    Koto tachi

I looked at this blade the other day and are posting those pictures on behalf of Thomas. Pics are shot with my mobile, so please forgive me for the quality. Guessed at first glance it might be yamashiro or ko-mihare school, but...
  25. As I say, its the angle of the light that makes a huge difference... However, any opinions on school? Judging kozuka is absolutely not my strongest side and if any have some info to share, it will be greatly appreciated, thank you.
