I have recently obtained a katana with full fittings by Goto Mitsuyasu (the tsuba and kozuka are signed). I wish to know more about Goto Mitsuyasu. Was he mainline or a side branch and any other information about when and where he worked?
Thank you,
Frank
This is the tang on an ubu katana with a very nice gold habaki. The fittings are all en suite and signed by Goto Mitsuyasu (1628-1656). I read the date as Tenmon 3 (1535). I am having difficulty reading the makers signature. Any assistance is appreciated.

I would appreciate some assistance in translating the mei on the attached tsuba. Also, the nanako are very fine and the work in general is outstanding. It reminds me of Goto school work, but I am no authority in this area. Any ideas?
Thank you.
