  1. I have my own doubts about the signature myself, Omura is a rare and very highly regarded smith after all. Maybe you should post a picture of the whole blade, that could really help. Kind Regards
  2. Signature for this one should be: 越後幕下士大村加卜- Echigo Bakufu Samurai Omura Kato 真十五枚甲伏作- 15 True/Certified Armorers Here's an Edo piece for auction, maybe you'll find it useful for comparison https://www.myday.co...itemcode=n1081016464 God bless
  3. Greetings everyone, I found myself re-reading a passage from the Art of the Samurai and found this statement: “Along the Edo Period..practice swordplay, swords of wood or bamboo were devised. This new activity was reflected in the design of real swords, which, as the memory of actual warfare became fainter, grew straighter and progressively narrower toward the point. Tempering patterns became more flamboyant and picturesque, includ- ing the newly devised tõran-ba” I'm wondering if there are any clear examples of this trend, or if it was a trend at all. All information is welcome God Bless
  4. The Dragon Kamon should be: 日蓮宗龍の丸--Nichiren-ryu no Maru
  5. Quite the interesting piece, I've too found odd pieces at gun shows. Thanks for posting 🙏
  6. 対い鶴- Two Cranes 旗本石河氏- Ishikawa Clan (Hatamoto?)
  7. I've seen it on a kozuka piece, but can't find it right now. All other swords and pieces I've seen just use the common Igeta.
  8. 250 for that? The depths of depravity..
  9. Since the writing is so obscured, my best gues at the moment is 易不(Change/Spare?) for the black kanji. And 南二五二 (South 25(?)2) for the yellow ones. Still not sold on any of them, maybe someone with a better eye.
  10. Maybe it's Manji (万治)? From 1658-1661?
  11. I thought it was a sewage pipe at first glance 🤣
  12. Mei seems pretty much in line with Sukenaga's works. But the Kiku does look a bit misshapen
  13. Did you rescue this poor nihonto from the bottom of the sea? 😂
  14. Greetings David, Since it seems the kanji are “友光” for Tomomitsu, I may have a suspect for your review, from the Uda school. https://www.aoijapan...o-tomomitsu-den-uda/ Best of luck in your search
  15. Try cropping them from the gallery on your phone/pc? If anything try to mostly show the tang
  16. Blade up, tang down. Just like this post.
  17. Greetings Ed, Just an educated guess, but it might just be 尾州藤原重幸 (Bishu Fujiwara Shigeyuki). Or maybe the second generation Shigeyuki. You may compare the signature in this link. https://www.aoijapan...-fujiwara-shigeyuki/
  18. Just post them in the translation assistance channel, be sure to take good pictures of the tangs (and overall blade/mountings if possible)
  19. We would need a few more pictures of the blade and mountings (if any) to figure that out
  20. Likely a gendaito, Hizen no Kuni Kanemoto was a former army Jumei-Tosho commissioned swordsmith, meaning he did both showato (star stamped) and gendaito even during the war period.
  21. Greetings Khalid, http://www.jp-sword....s/seki/gendaito.html I've seen lots of wonderful pieces from the top smiths on this list. Best wishes on your search
  22. This exact pair of tsuba is for sale here: https://gspawn.com/p..._sid=099ca4d9f&_ss=r Maybe an old reproduction or cast?
  23. Did he mention that the owner was part of the secret shinobi division? 😂
  24. 肥前國西光 [Hizen no kuni Saikō]. Not a bad deal for a 1940's gendaito piece, cool find!
  25. Seems that 河村忠綱 (Kawamura Tadatsuna) is quite undocumented. Other than being a Seki smith (perhaps a lower grade?) I can't find much.
