I just came on here to warn every one on here about this same issue I learned today about the UK but it seems some are aware already. How stupid, will this outlaw machetes who work in landscaping ? Or huge butcher knives used by cooks, or what about Bokkens with a sharpened edge. The pictures I saw shown were not even Japanese swords- but Gurkha, none were traditional Japanese blades. As if criminals are going to obey the laws? Can this Law be any more stupid? I guess criminals will have to go back to renting Vans and running victims down or just getting a gun. Oh wait, let me break my "in case of emergencies" bottle to use the broken bottle to defend myself. AS IF COLLECTORS OF Japanese SWORDS WALK AROUND WITH THEIR DAISHO TUCKED INTO THEIR HAKAMA! Do any of you go out in public that way? Here in Texas we carry ours in a Portable Firearms Case with large words NOT A FIREARM on the sides. One poster said you better get your fix in now---- But from the news I heard here in the USA is that all swords and knives are to be turned in to the authorities. It did not mention those who already own collectable swords or antiques or historically relevant blades. It lumped it all in together from what I gathered to be turned in. ( The Government will pick out the good ones to keep or sell at Auctions ) Sorry Brits- the UK Government has caught the idiot bug, this will further prevent Law Abiding citizens from self protection. F-them, get a survival tube and bury them in your back yard or build a hidden vault in your home. We have a phrase here in Texas, " You can take my gun away after you pry my cold dead fingers off of it!" In your case, you can create a banner or ( Bumper Sticker ) " You can take my Sword away after you chop my cold dead fingers off if it! "

Sorry, I have not been able to get back to this discussion. I was badly injured in an accident with my ribs along my back from the Scapula down along the T4, 5, 6 and my left hand crushed along the 3rd, 4th, 5th Metacarpal, the 4th medial phalange was dislocated as well. But what made it worse is the Radiologist informed me there were tumors inside my bones. So if anyone is interested in purchasing my swords let me know.

Really, they exist? It seems to me illogical, why bother with hiding a blade inside of a blade. Sorry to take so long to reply, been having a ton of problems today-brown outs and running errands. It really is hard to see the small image. Even when I get back home I have to use a magnifying glass over some parts to read it. I used to have huge 4 k HD Screens but a lightning strike took out the media room. It went through the roof, thru the 2nd floor media room down to the first floor. Firemen said it missed the gas line by a foot. So it is going to be awhile before my life is back to norm

I was in between my Laptop at home( ended up having to run back and forth several times ) had to quickly run off to pick up my daughter from work a few miles from home, ended up being stuck even longer than usual so while waiting in the parking lot and went on my cell phone and with it acting so funky flashing on and off ( Maybe that was anti seizure meds...ooorrr the Peyote tea...but hey who can tell these days ? LOL ) with my itsy bitsy teeny weeny screen was a taaaaaaaad bit small to see what all was in this stream. All I could barely see was a general discussion and something about difficulty mailing Guns and South Africa. ( It really is hard to read the size of a postage stamp ) It wasn't until I got back home and the screen large enough to see what this was all about! Me so sorry Sensei.... I shall do 3 Hail wax ons and 10 Blessed wax offs (damn I had wait another hour for this freaking power to come back on just to get that last line ) Brown outs are getting on my nerves! Grrr

Both the Japanese and Chinese have always been some of the best in their craftmanship. ( even a simple box ) Everything is made with a special artistic flare to it! Even the weaponry has such artistic special oooomph! quality! Heritage Auction is having an upcoming auction of Woodblock art on September 25, 2024. I was there the day this one Asian man came in with a huge Trailer full of both Japanese, Korean, Chinese woodblock and Jade carved snuff bottles and pottery!!! He let me hold some....they were stunning! I have several pottery vases by Hamada Shoji which were modern, traditional and some transitional mixed together lending unique vases or bowls. When I get in storage I will find try to take some photos of the other pieces. This is a photo of one I got via Heritage Auctions but they never sent the box it came in which is supposed to be with all his works-his boxes are art piece in it as well. A great number of the swordsmiths in the Meiji period turned to rendering their art in numerous examples. I have some Incense urns etc. Photo #2 is a vase with a Dragon holding a marble representing the Earth. This one is from the Taisho Period (1912-1926) # 3 and #4 are a very large Incense Urn/Censor from early Meiji Period ( DETAIL OF THE DRAGONS ARE AWESOME ) # 5 is of a bowl and vase displayed at the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts post WW2. BTW works by Hamada Shoji range from 5K to 50K. #6 I also wanted to show a painting by a local artist named Sasha Jones who lives here in Texas.

I don't think they could pay me enough to live in South Africa! NO WAY JOSE! With all the Gun Control freaks running the US Government claim the USA is the most dangerous country to live in! Because of the overkill rules made by legislators that hinder LEGAL ownership has made it all the more easier for Criminals to commit more crimes knowing full well nothing will happen to them. Oh, is that what that is in the small corner of the photo. I can't read Japanese and assumed it was one of the differing certificates. Thanks. It is has been awhile since I was on so I am far behind on a lot. ( I have Cancer...AGAIN! its not malignant but sure is a pain in the butt and costly to remove it. I am going to use Cryotherapy because it is the cheapest. ) So all the meds cause me to be confused along with my tendency to become really lazy of late! LOL

Plus these are open Editions. Meaning they can be recast thousands of time. IMHO recasts are of no value and can never be of value to invest in. Only limited editions can hold a value or increase.

Does this mean that the NBTHK Origami rating is a fake?

I did not think to look back at the Nakago but I did look down the length of the Naganese it was narrower than the Yokote which flared out wider from there to the Kissaki. The fissures were near to the Mune but extremely small. The pitting was within the Kissaki and the Yokote line but were hairline in size and not deep, so I plan to place some oil there and at the other two which are a few inches before the Habaki. When I get my digital camera back and feel well enough I will take much better pictures.

I tried loading these the other night but it wouldn't allow me to. The Center photo I took was too blurry so I didn't bother loading it up on here. But you can tell it has been polished and sharpened many times. When I looked at it under a scope it look as though it has had been done 3 times because the Hamon is beginning to fade away. I may be wrong. I could only find 2 slight fissures and only 4 or 5 small pitting. But my eyes are getting bad too! To be honest it looks though who polished it last did not finish it with the Hazuya and Jizuya stones for that mirrored look.

It did have its papers on it at one time and it wore off the Saya. Some of the ink transferred on it.

Without the proper back drop, tripod and lighting I just can't give them justice. Without the flash from whichever angle was my shadow over them and plus my cell phone will not focus at a foot away to get the details.
