is it in Japan or USA? Is the seller knowledgeable about swords? Sa is a BIG name, it is worth a lot if real, if i owned it i would get an NBTHK paper before selling
-
looks to be signed Sa if so, and if genuine then mid to late 1300's......... does it have a paper? If so post a picture maybe it will give help... What does the owner or dealer say (they have it in hand)?

Transporting swords from shows
Mark replied to Matt D's topic in Sword Shows, Events, Community News and Legislation Issues
i use a hard golf bag case with wheels. Easy to handle and attracts less attention. i put a letter inside for TSA saying there are swords inside and they are sharp and fragile. I wrap them in bubble wrap and tape them that way TSA is less likely to touch them -
Thanks to everyone who attended, and those who had tables. It was the second year. I plan to do it next year Jan 24-25 2025 (Jan 22-25 for dealers and those with passes). Plan early to come. I hope the expand and grow the show but i am happy with how it is going. A big thanks to Mike Y, Woody, Brian T, and Dan and Jason for all they did to educate and demonstrate, they made the show a special event. Being the second year i am happy with the results. I think there is room to grow and expand the show and i am just figuring out how to work with the venue. All in all a great experience. It was wonderful to meet Steve, Mark S' wife (met Mark S at Chicago) and Yurie (and her husband) i think i knew everyone else. Sorry if i forgot anyone or was distracted but i get busy dealing with show "stuff". I can finally relax now i am home -- at least for a little while until i ramp up for Chicago.... here are a few pictures, the demonstrations were different this year. Brian and Woody demonstrated their crafts for 3 hours so you could walk by when you wanted and ask questions and interact with them, Mike Y gave a short introductory talk to explain what they were doing, very relaxed and educational. Some pictures were taken before the public came in when i had a bit more time to take them.

sword is signed Nobukuni saku..... Paper says Chikuzen and Shinto. so i did a quick google search and found https://nihontoclub....a=All&school_nid=All here is a list of smiths.................. so my opinion is the NBTHK is saying it is one of these. it is a starting point. i didn't look at Hawley's or Sesko's index but they probably list similar. Maybe you can search for a matching oshigata to narrow it down i agree with Ray. I do not try and equate values to money i think they are just to compare, if i see i sword with a hawley rating or 50 or 100 i figure they are worth research (probably gimei in my experience) and worth more (if genuine) that the usual 15 or 20 points Nobukuni NOB271 信國 Chikuzen Kanei (1624-1644) 15 / / NMK-717-13 SJS-472 Nobukuni NOB272 信國 Chikuzen Jōō (1652-1655) 15 / / Nobukuni NOB273 信國 Chikuzen Kanbun (1661-1673) 15 / / Nobukuni NOB274 信國 Chikuzen Kanbun (1661-1673) 50 / / Nobukuni NOB275 信國 Chikuzen Shinto (1596-1781) 15 / / Nobukuni NOB276 信國 Chikuzen Shōhō (1644-1648) 15 / / Nobukuni NOB277 信國 Chikuzen Kanbun (1661-1673) 15 / / Nobukuni NOB278 信國 Chikuzen Kanbun (1661-1673) 15 / / Nobukuni NOB279 信國 Chikuzen Kanbun (1661-1673) 15 / / Nobukuni NOB280 信國 Chikuzen Enpō (1673-1681) 15 / / Nobukuni NOB281 信國 1st Chikuzen Genroku (1688-1704) 15 / / Nobukuni NOB282 信國 Chikuzen Tenna (1681-1684) 20 / 200 /

Sent you an email thank you mark -
Last year Brian, Woody and Mike gave "presentations". There may have been some recordings but i do not know. This year Mike thought it better to try another way. The presentations were so popular everyone was there so no traffic in the sale section. So Mike is having Brian and Woody demonstrate their work, they are going to be working for 3 hours so people can go by when they want and observe and even ask questions, more of a one on one opportunity but not sure how that would work for recording or transcript. We are trying to balance the educational opportunity but still allow dealers the chance to sell items

i would not say Chinese. Is it dated? I have had.handled Tsunatoshi blades. Usually there have longer mei and are dated. 2 kanji could be possible. Looking at the nakago it does not look like Tsunatoshi's without seeing or knowing more i would have said later copy, maybe early Showa

the show is getting close....... i understand the hotel is about full. This year they is another room, Morphy's bought another show and are putting it together with the existing one so bigger than last year. Last time i had people request tables at the last minute. I can usually work it out but it makes it more stressful so if anyone is thinking of coming lat me know and get a room right away The show website has details and a link to the hotel........ if you have questions let me know https://www.vegasswordshow.com/
